We are writing to update you on the exciting Sandbar project and to launch our fund raising programme designed to assist completion of stage 2 of this project that will make your club a social destination for you, your family and your friends.
We are exceptionally fortunate to be situated in one of the worlds iconic waterfront locations. Your Board plans for the new Sandbar to operate at a standard that members will want to use the Club socially with their friends and family, not just on race days or other Club events. The Sandbar will also be open to the public.
It is intended that the upgraded venue, bar and kitchen will provide quality service, food & beverages, a desirable waterfront location and atmosphere at an affordable price that will add considerable value to the Club and provide members a Club facility that they have wanted for years.
The new Sandbar will occupy a much larger area occupying the whole of the ground floor of the northern building providing 180-degree views of the northern and southern beaches and surrounding water views. In addition to greater beach and water access the bar area, seating and amenities will enable members and guests a quality practical serviceable venue to eat, drink and meet with others before and after sailing or other Club events.
During the past year the Board has approved and overseen a number of major works to complete major repairs to the marina and commence a project to revitalise the Club’s premises and amenities. Over $1 million has been spent or committed to date including the Club entrance and major structural work to set up the new Sandbar area. The Commodore provided details of the proposed final Sandbar Stage 2 development in his address at the recent Annual General Meeting indicating that the Board has approved the concept and design of the next stage of the development. While we have some funds set aside for the final stage, we are asking members for their support to assist funding our project to complete the Sandbar. The Board has approved the establishment of a fundraising project with a goal to raise up to $400k.
