Special Regulation Audits are compulsory for all yachts racing with MHYC (refer to Special Regulation 8.0 in the 2010-11 Sailing Handbook) and forms part of a yachts compliance requirement to enter a MHYC event or any other Yacht Club event. Other Race Documents are: Crew List, Insurance Policy Document, IRC2010 Certificate (if applicable) and Entry Fees. Process Order:
- Members are to pre-register to have their yachts inspected by an accredited YA Auditor (volunteers and staff of MHYC) by phoning the MHYC Sailing Officer on 9969 1244. Categories 1 – 7 are available, times are limited and offered on a first come first serve basis.
- Members are required to pre-complete a Special Regulation Check List, which are available online or from the foyer. All equipment is to be laid out ready for inspection by an Auditor; yachts that do not have their equipment pre-laid out will not be audited. The Member will have to make another booking.
- Two Members of the regular crew shall be present and onboard for the inspection. A Category 7 Audit (standard inshore racing) will take approximately 20mins.
- On completion of a yachts audit the representative shall have the form signed and dated and return it (along with other race documents) to the Sailing Office, for copies to be produced and filed at MHYC. A yacht shall have a copy of their form onboard at all times.
- Yachts who fail a Special Regulation Audit are required to acquire the outstanding items before they will be permitted to compete. Items outstanding can be presented to the Sailing Officer to sign off.
Notes:
- The MHYC Sailing Handbook 2010 - 2011 is required to pass a Special Regulation Audit.
- A copy of the Racing Rules of Sailing 2008 – 2012 (the “Blue Book”), is required to pass a Special Regulation Audit. Available to purchase from Boat books or online at http://www.yachting.org.au/shop/ The Blue Book is also your reference document for compliance with the Special Regulations for each Category 1 – 7.
- Both these publications shall be onboard a yacht at all times.
- Every yacht competing in MHYC races is subject to random equipment audit and may be disqualified if her equipment is found to be non-complying. Any yacht's representative who acts unreasonably in preventing a random audit may cause the yacht and the representative to be disqualified from the race and from further participation in Club Events.
- You are advised that Racing Rules of Sailing (Rule 46 & 55) requires "any crew member that sails in more than 3 races in any one Sailing Season shall be a member of a Club affiliated to an MYA and a member of an MYA and Yachting Australia". This means that all of your crew sailing more than 3 races must be a MHYC (or equivalent) member otherwise you are at risk of disqualification
