The MHYC Gillawa Shield is run in conjunction with the CYCA Blue Water Pointscore. The Gillawa Shield is a fantastic ocean experience for young and old.

Casual Entrants and Series entrants are welcome. If you would like to crew please contact the Sailing Office.

Yachts entered in the Annual Inshore Pointscore can apply for average points in accordance with MHYC Special Regulation 26.0, Application for Average Points, click here to apply

Race Document Requirements

The following shall be supplied to the CYCA Sailing Office via the online Topyacht System on the CYCA Website; and copy supplied to the MHYC Sailing Office no later than 1200 hours on the Tuesday prior to the race:

  • Completed Entry (made online through the Top Yacht Entry System on the CYCA website  www.cyca.com.au) ;
  • YA Special Regulations Equipment Compliance Form for Race Category 2 or higher category;
  • Verification of Stability as per paragraph 8.5 of the General Conditions of Racing of this Sailing Program;
  • Verification of construction requirements (refer Special Regulations 3.03);
  • Current Rating Certificate (if applicable);
  • 406 EPIRB Certificate;
  • Life Raft Inspection Certificate(s);
  • Radio Inspection Certificate;
  • Radio Operators Certificates for two crew members;
  • Senior First Aid Certificates for two crew members;
  • YA Sea Safety and Survival Course Certificates for 30% of crew members;
  • Declaration of Crew Experience for 50% of crew members (refer Special Regulations 2.04);
  • Crew list in the format supplied by the Organising Authority showing Name, Address, Age, Weight, YA number, PLB number, Jacket Colour and NOK contact details for each crew member and two 24 hour emergency boat contacts including phone numbers (not being persons sailing);
  • General Disclaimer and Acknowledgement of Rights Form to be signed by each crew member;
  • Colour photograph of the boat under sail, no older than 12 months and suitable for search and rescue purposes.  This may be a digital photograph of a size not less than 6cm by 6cm with a resolution not less than 400 DPI.
  • Certificate of Currency of Insurance with details of the cover and the insurer; and
  • Entry Fee.

    A boat that does not meet the requirements of SI 4.1 may be scored DNC in that race. (amends RRS 78.2).
